Gold Mine Wastewater Induced Morpho-physiological Alteration of Four Biodiesel Producing Species
نویسندگان
چکیده
This experiment aimed to determine the adaptability of four biodiesel-producing plants gold mine wastewater based on morpho-physiological properties. Four species namely jatropha (Jatropha curcas), castor bean (Ricinus communis), wild candlenut (Reutealis trisperma) and bead tree (Melia azedarach) were grown in water culture using Hoagland solution for 2 weeks then treated with mining at 0% (control), 25%, 50%, 75% (v/v) 3 weeks. Growth, anatomical physiological characteristics observed during treatment. The results showed that significantly decreased growth despite varied among species. Wastewater had significant effect leaves anatomy Jatropha but not others. It also induced increase malondialdehyde (MDA) content bean, bead-tree. Meanwhile, treatment chlorophyll all most bead-tree plant, relative (RWC) particularly plants. There was strong negative correlation between MDA decrease leaf RWC. Among species, (R. resistant morphological

Heavy Metals Tolerance Potential of Fungi Species Isolated from Gold Mine Tailings in Ghana
Introduction: Heavy metal contamination has necessitated a less expensive and non-destructive clean-up technique such as mycoremediation. This study aimed to isolate, identify, and evaluate the tolerance of fungi species in different concentrations of heavy metals for their potential use in bioremediation. Materials and Methods: Fungi were isolated by serial dilution and spread plate technique...
متن کاملThermodynamic Data of Fusarium oxysporum Grown on Different Substrates in Gold Mine Wastewater
The necessity for sustainable process development has led to an upsurge in bio-based processes, thereby placing a higher demand on the use of suitable microorganisms. Similarly, thermodynamics is a veritable tool that can predict the behavior of any material under well-defined conditions. Thermodynamic data of Fusarium oxysporum used in the bioremediation of gold mine wastewater, for a process ...
متن کاملChrysiogenes arsenatis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new arsenate-respiring bacterium isolated from gold mine wastewater.
A new strictly anaerobic bacterium (strain BAL-1T) has been isolated from a reed bed at Ballarat Goldfields in Australia. The organism grew by reducing arsenate [As(V)] to arsenite [As(III)], using acetate as the electron donor and carbon source; acetate alone did not support growth. When BAL-1T was grown with arsenate as the terminal electron acceptor, acetate could be replaced by pyruvate, L-...
متن کاملMorpho-physiological Characteristics of Brassica napus L. Under Cadmium Stress
Cadmium as a heavy metal is also considered as a serious threat for the environment. This element is accumulated in soil through industrial processes as well as phosphate fertilizers and aggregates into the food chain. This study was conducted in order to investigate the different levels of cadmium effects on growth features of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) plants. Root and shoot weight and heig...
